CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - UC men's basketball coach Mick Cronin has emerged as a candidate for the vacant UNLV head coaching job, according to the Las Vegas Review-Journal.
The Review Journal's Mark Anderson said UNLV could move quickly if they decided to pursue Cronin heavily since the Bearcats were recently ousted from the NCAA Tournament. It is unknown how serious the interest is between the two parties.
Cronin just finished his 10th season UC and has a 207-129 combined record. This season was UC's sixth straight trip to the Big Dance.
Todd Simon has been the Runnin' Rebels interim coach since Dave Rice was fired back in January. UNLV went 18-15 this season.
Cronin previously coached at Murray St. and was an assistant under Rick Pitino at Louisville and Bob Huggins at UC.
