Funeral arrangements set for 4-year-old scalded to death

FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) - Funeral arrangements have been made for a 4-year-old who died after being put in scalding water.

The child's stepmother Anna Ritchie, 25, admitted to dipping Austin Cooper's legs in a bathtub of hot water as punishment Tuesday, according to Franklin police.

In an interview with Channel 2 (WDTN-TV), Austin's father Robert Ritchie III says he came home from work Tuesday night and his son was already in bed.

He said he found Austin unresponsive the next morning and called 911.

The boy's death was ruled a homicide by the Warren County Coroner's Office.

Visitation will be March 22 from noon until 1 p.m. at Herr-Riggs Funeral Home in Middletown followed by services at 1 p.m. at the funeral home.

Interment will be at Butler County Memorial Park in Trenton.
