GLENDALE, OH (FOX19) -

A brief high speed police chase ended in a crash with two injuries and a power outage early Monday, police officials said.

Sharonville police began chasing a vehicle in the 11000 block of Reading Road just before 4 a.m., said Lt. Mark Preuss.

An officer was in the area investigating suspicious activity near closed businesses when he saw two men dressed in black, Preuss said.

Police suspect the men were committing a theft offense.

Then, a white vehicle sped off out of nowhere, fleeing more than 100 mph, according to police. It was going so fast, a couple cruisers could not keep up.

A short distance later, the fleeing vehicle jumped railroad tracks, went airborne and slammed into a pole in neighboring Glendale on Sharon Road at Willow Avenue, knocking out power. police said. When the pole snapped, that damaged one building, Local Yokel Organic Market.

The vehicle also hit a natural gas line.

Sharon Road is shut down in the area until cleanup is complete. Duke Energy crews are on scene.

Authorities called for two ambulances: One for the driver, who was conscious, and the second for an unconscious passenger. Fire crews had to extricate them from the vehicle.

They were taken to a West Chester Hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Their names were not released.

Preuss said the men will be charged with evading police. An investigation into the alleged theft continues.
