OHIO (FOX19 - U.S. Marshals are warning Ohio residents of a new phone scam where the victims are told they missed jury duty.
Scammers tell the victims they missed jury duty and have to pay a fine immediately or be jailed. The scammers provide legitimate information including, titles, badges and law enforcement officers to make the scam seem credible.
The Ohio Attorney General's Office says the scam is to steal personal information from the victims.
Federal courts do not call jurors and ask for money or personal identification information.
