Colerain teacher, sex offender seeks to clear name; Student involved says 'case should be dropped'

Former student of convicted teacher speaks out (VIDEO)

COLERAIN, OH (FOX19) - A former Colerain High School teacher who must register as a sex offender for having sex with two students in 2013 is asking a court to clear her name.

This as a former student who court documents show was involved comes forward to defend 38-year-old, Julie Hautzenroeder.

Hautzenroeder was sentenced to two years in jail after she was convicted of sexual battery. She served six months of that sentence.

Her former student,19-year-old Nick Morris of Fairfield, tells Fox19 Now, "the next morning after, she said like, you know, 'I made a mistake' and you know, me and (student who accompanied Morris), we were talking and we kind of figured that we made a mistake too. This probably wasn't a good idea what we did. But you know it happened," said Morris.

Three years after the fact, Morris said it is time for everyone to move on.

"This case needs to be dropped. We're grown. I want her to get on with her life," said Morris.

Hautzenroeder's attorney filed a writ of habeas corpus with the U.S. District Court in Cincinnati this week.
