FLORENCE, KY (FOX19) - Police said they are investigating a shooting after the victim showed up with a gunshot wound to his chest at St. Elizabeth in Florence late Sunday.
The victim was transferred to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center, where he is listed in stable condition, police said in a prepared statement.
Information gathered from the man and a witness indicated the shooting occurred at Walnut Creek apartments at Honeysuckle and Shenandoah streets, the statement shows.
According to the victim, he was at his residence with a friend of his and they had been drinking, police said.
At some point, they became involved in an argument; the friend picked up the victim's handgun and shot him in the chest, the statement reads.
The victim's girlfriend transported him to the hospital in her car. The friend stayed in the apartment and locked the door, according to police.
The Florence Police SWAT team responded to the residence. They were able to make entry into the apartment and took the person into custody without incident, the statement reads.
The handgun was recovered at the scene.
Juan Juarez, 21, of Florence, was arrested on an attempted murder charge and booked into the Boone County jail.
