Study: Teens View Oral Sex Less Risky

Study finds young teens view oral sex as less risky than intercourse

About one in five ninth-graders who were surveyed say they have had oral sex -- and about a third say they intend to try it in the next six months.

The numbers come from a small study that surveyed 580 ethnically diverse students in two California public high schools. The teens generally believed oral sex is less risky and more acceptable for their age group than intercourse is.

One analyst says the results show stereotypes no longer exist about oral sex -- and that girls and boys both see it "as not being a big deal."
