FC Cincinnati (2-1-0) won their inaugural home opener against Charlotte Independence (1-2-0) 2-1, in front of 14,658 fans at Nippert Stadium.
Forward Sean Okoli got the scoring started quickly for FC Cincinnati when he scored an acrobatic volley from the top of the box in the fifth minute. His goal would be the only one in the first half.

Cincinnati native Austin Berry scored the second goal for FC Cincinnati in the 52nd minute off a diving header.
Charlotte immediately responded when David Estrada put Charlotte back within one in the 56th minute. Estrada's goal would be the only one of the night for Charlotte.
"Growing up a Cincinnati sports fan, this is a dream come true," Berry said, after the game.
FC Cincinnati had a sizable advantage in corner kicks with 12-6 and had 19 shots to Charlotte's 14.
The team's next opponent will be Louisville City FC at Nippert Stadium next Saturday at 7 p.m.
