FOX19 - You can't believe everything you read on the internet. As cool as it sounds, the moon will most certainly not appear a shade of green on Wednesday night.
An image of a green-tinted moon has been circulating on Facebook and Twitter in recent weeks. The meme claims that on April 20 a rare lunar phenomenon will cause the moon to appear green.
The prank's timing makes sense. It claims the green event happens on April 20, also referred to as "4-20," - the unofficial and celebratory day dedicated to marijuana.
Just in case you didn't get the hint from the date, here's more de-bunking from the pros at EarthSky.org:
"There are several versions this (completely untrue) story, and we've gotten many questions about it from within our community, from people wanting to know if it's true."
