NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) -

A Kentucky dog owner is hoping to locate her 11 year-old Yorkie mix.

Ivet Valencia said she believes her dog "Jules" escaped after the wind knocked open the gate Friday night.

But Jules is in trouble. She is currently on medication for digesting food.

After friends posted about the missing dog on Facebook, Valencia says she was told the dog was last seen not too far from her home near Newport Intermediate School.

Workers who happened to be at the school said they saw the dog and that a family picked up the dog thinking it was abandoned.

“Thank you for rescuing the dog and I know my dog didn't have a collar on because she was in the back yard, said Valencia. "But I'm desperately looking for her right now. She needs medication.”

Jules weighs 4 pounds and is light brown. It's believed that Jules was last seen getting in to black truck with an Indiana license plate.

If you know the whereabouts of Jules contact Ivet Valencia at 512-721-9321.
