Ex-Presidents To Join Bush At Funeral

Ex-Presidents Bush and Clinton to join Bush at pope's funeral

Two former presidents will be joining President Bush at Pope John Paul's funeral -- and two won't. Former Presidents Clinton and Bush will make the trip, while former Presidents Ford and Carter will be staying home.

Ford is 91 and no longer travels extensively. It's not clear why Carter won't be going. The White House says he was approached. No explanation was offered by the White House or by the Carter Center in Atlanta.

President Bush will be the first sitting US president ever to attend a pope's funeral. He'll lead a delegation that will also include Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice and first lady Laura Bush.
