Texting and driving continues to be a major problem.
AAA statistics show 11 teens die every day from it.
Soon, police may have a tool to find out if you're doing it.
It's a device called the textalyzer.
It can scan a person's phone and quickly tell them when you were texting.
Whether you're involved in an accident, or just being pulled over, officers would be able to see if texting was the reason, and then punish you accordingly.
While the device could help save lives - many are concerned about privacy issues.
In New York, they are currently discussing a bill that would give officers the ability to use the scanner.
The device would not be able to read the text or gain access to other info, just be able to identify when you texted.
