Police investigate alleged embezzlement at closed Hamilton BMV office

HAMILTON, OH (FOX19) -

Police are investigating allegations of embezzlement at the now-closed Hamilton east registrar agency.

An unnamed suspect stole an unknown amount of money between Jan. 1, 2010 and Nov. 4, 2015, a police report shows.

The Ohio Bureau of Motor Vehicles announced Wednesday the deputy registrar office at 1720-A S. Erie Blvd is closed until further notice.

No reason for the closure was given.

BMV officials said they are working to reestablish service at this location as soon as possible.

They apologized for any inconvenience this may create for customers.

The BMV recommends drivers go to the following other locations: 138 N. Brookwood Ave. in Hamilton and 530 Wessel Dr. Suite L in Fairfield remain open.
