The roof top cocktail terrace at 21c Museum Hotel downtown is now open for the season. Perfect place to enjoy creative cocktails with a beautiful view of the city. They’re also known for their poptails which combines a cocktail and popsicle.
21c used to be the only game in town when it came to cocktails on a roof top terrace. About 7 blocks away is you can find Top of the Park. That’s the roof top terrace on top of the Marriott Residence Inn on 4th street. It’s is actually at two level terrace and one offers an almost 360-degree view of downtown.
It is also open for business. Krueger’s Tavern in OTR also has rooftop seating. It’s not as high but the chef there makes a mean burger. It is also open, but be prepared to wait.
I called there at 5 p.m. and there was already a wait for outside seating.
Rhinegeist has a new rooftop deck, and it’s open. It has a huge bar that has both beer and cocktails on tap. I talked with co-founder Bryant Goulding who says the view is going back in time. You can see all the historic buildings of OTR. Some buildings like Old St. Mary’s going back to the mid-1800’s
Two other places are outside of downtown, but they have great views of it. The Rookwood has a great deck that overlooks downtown from Mount Adams. The deck is not open for the season just yet.
They hope to be open in the next few weeks. It a great spot complete with swings.
The outdoor seating at Incline Public House in Price Hill is open for business. The wait can be anywhere from 30 to 90 minutes. However, the hostess tells me there are plenty places to enjoy a cocktail and appetizers while you wait.
Get outside and enjoy the sun. After this wacky spring I think we earned it.
