BURLINGTON, KY (FOX19) -

The Boone County Sheriff's Office suspect speed and alcohol to be factors in a fatal motorcycle accident in Union Saturday afternoon.

According to police, Chester Morling, 46, of Guilford, Indiana, was rounding a curve on a 2002 Harley Davidson around 1 p.m. when he crossed the double yellow line on East Bend Rd. near Mcville Rd. into the opposing lane of travel and sideswiped a 2015 Chevy Silverado.

David Esparza, 55, was driving the Silverado with his wife Kathy Esparza, 57, of Portland, Indiana.

After the impact, Morling remained in the opposite lane and then struck a 2000 Harley Davidson motorcycle head-on being driven by Robert Cook, 36, of Florence, Kentucky, officials stated.

Morling was pronounced dead at the scene by Belleview Fire/EMS and confirmed he not wearing a helmet at the time of the collision.

Cook was transported to UC Medical Center for non life-threatening injuries.

Police said David and Kathy were not injured.

The road was closed as crews cleared the scene.

Investigators said Morling had just participated in the charity ride fundraiser for the Rabbit Hash General Store.
