Student arrested in OU library with loaded gun due in court

An Ohio University student arrested last night at the school's library after his roommate reported being abducted by him is scheduled to be in court this morning. Athens County Prosecutor Dave Warren says 25-year-old Ryan Salim of Wintersville is charged with abduction and two counts of carrying a concealed weapon. Police say Salim was carrying two loaded handguns at the time of his arrest. Athens police say Salim's roommate told them Salim abducted him Monday afternoon and held him a gunpoint, forcing him to drive to several locations around Ohio. He told police he escaped yesterday afternoon. Acting on a tip, university and Athens police officers starting evacuating the library and found Salim. He was arrested without incident. A university spokesman says Salim is a senior English major.
