Two men in their 20s were driven to the hospital after a meth lab explosion in Anderson Township Sunday night, authorities said.

Deputies with the Hamilton County Sheriff's Office and Anderson Township fire crews responded to a report of an explosion inside a residence in the 1280 block of Tallberry Drive just before 6 p.m., sheriff's officials said in a prepared statement.

Upon arrival, they received a report that two people were seen running from the scene. Authorities concluded the explosion was due to a meth lab in the garage.

Officials at the scene wore protective gear.

The two people seen running from the scene were later located at Mercy Anderson Hospital after a Tallberry Drive resident drove them there, sheriff's officials said.

The men, who are in their 20s, were later taken from Mercy Anderson to University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment of burns they suffered during the explosion, according to the sheriff's office.

Their conditions are unknown, and their names were not released.

An investigation remains ongoing.
