BLUE ASH, OH (FOX19) -

Authorities are searching for a motorist who eluded deputies after a lengthy weekend chase.

The chase began after the Hamilton County deputy tried to pull over a white, four-door Chevy Impala on Kenwood Road just north of Madison Avenue at 12:10 a.m. Sunday, sheriff's officials said in a prepared statement.

A check of the vehicle turned up a misdemeanor warrant that came back to the registered owner of the vehicle.

But the driver fled north on Kenwood  Road for 5.9 miles and then came to a stop in Blue Ash on Kenwood Road at Zigzag Road due to mechanical issues, sheriff's officials said.

The driver got out and ran off.

The passenger, who remained in the car,had a  misdemeanor drug possession warrant and was taken into custody, according to the sheriff's office.
