It’s National Pet ID week and Pet Supplies Plus is once retailer encouraging pet owners to get their pet microchipped, they’re offering a deep discount to do it too. Here’s why vets say you should consider getting your pet microchipped.

  • Every year an estimated 10 million cats and dogs are lost or stolen in the U – an issue that will affect 1 in every 3 pets at some point in their lives·        
  • Dogs with registered microchips are 2.5 times more likely to be returned to their owner when brought to a shelter
  • Microchipped cats are 21 times more likely to be returned to owner when turned into a shelter
  • The microchip is inserted between the shoulder blades and is about the size of a grain of rice.

  • PSP is hosting low cost pet ID events at participating locations during National Pet ID Week, which started April 17 and runs through April 23
  • $7 microchipping for pets, a discount of more than 50 percent – PSP has teamed up with VIP Pet care, which provides veterinary care with mobile clinics to do this.
  • PSP is also offering 50 percent off all ID tags this week

  • Make sure to provide plenty of water for pets
