SYMMES TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) -

A road in Symmes Township has been named to honor fallen Cincinnati Police Officer Sonny Kim. 

Sonny Kim Drive is off of Lebanon Road. It now how visitors enter Home of the Brave Park which features five multi-purpose sporting fields, a Veterans’ memorial plaza, a shelter and wet and dry playgrounds according to the park’s website. 

Officer Kim, a 27-year veteran of the Cincinnati Police Department,  was shot in killed in Madisonville after responding to calls of a man brandishing a gun last summer.

Kim was also known as Sensei Sonny Kim.  Sensei is the Japanese word for teacher. 

He owned a karate dojo in Symmes Township.  The new sign honoring him is just two miles away from his dojo.
