Gunman in custody after SWAT standoff

FRANKLIN, OH (FOX19) – - A man was taken into custody and then transported to a local hospital after a police standoff, Franklin police said early Wednesday.

Officers responded to reports of a gunshot coming from the upstairs of a Faulkner Way residence just before 11:30 p.m. Tuesday, they said.

The caller said he went upstairs where Ronald S. Latchford was staying -  and that's when Latchford pointed a handgun at him and ordered him to get out, police said.

The caller retreated downstairs and dialed 911.

When police arrive,they said they saw Latchford in front of an upstairs window with a handgun in his hand.

Officers got everyone out of the house and secured the scene.

A SWAT team - the Warren County Special Response Unit - was called and negotiated by cell phone with Latchford to come out of the house on his own.

He was taken into custody just after 2:30 a.m. and taken by an ambulance to a local hospital.

The incident and charges remain under investigation.
