Need to know: 2016 Flying Pig Marathon

CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Cincinnati's 18th annual Flying Pig marathon weekend kicks off Friday.

The Flying Pig includes the marathon, half marathon, 10K, 5K, a health and fitness expo, kids races, an after party and more. 

Flying Pig officials told FOX19 NOW as of Friday afternoon that the Little Kings Mile and the half marathon is sold out. There are approximately 200 spots remaining for the 10K, 5K, and Flying Fur on Saturday. Approximately there are 250 spots remaining for the full marathon. 

Participants attend the expo to pick up their packets, but the event also open to the public with more than 120 local and national vendors.

  • Noon to 7 p.m., P&G Health & Fitness Expo and packet pickup, Duke Energy Convention Center, Fifth and Elm.
  • 6:30 p.m., Packet pickup begins for Little Kings Mile

  • 6:30 a.m., Registration and packet pickup for Toyota 10K and Tri-State Running Company 5K at the Schmidlapp Lawn, Christian Moerlein Lager House, Mehring Way and Joe Nuxhall Way
  • 8 a.m. Start of Flying Pig Toyota 10K, Joe Nuxhall Way
  • 10 a.m., Start of Tri-State Running Company 5K and the Walmart and Sam’s Club Family Fun Festival at Yeatman’s Cove
  • 10 a.m.- 7 p.m., P&G Health & Fitness Expo, Duke Energy Convention Center
  • Noon, Start Kids’ Marathon 26th Mile
  • 1 p.m., Start Mascot Race, Flying Piglet Kids’ Fun Run featuring the Pampers Diaper Dash at Yeatman’s Cove
  • 1 p.m., Start PigAbilities Mile
  • 1:30 p.m., IAMS Flying Fur Dog Run
  • 2:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., Pre-lifting, Pump N’ Run for full and half marathons

The Flying Pig route will be the same route as last year.

This year's Flying Pig is pacing to be the biggest pig ever. Organizers say the 2016 field of participants on all days for the events of the 18th annual Flying Pig Marathon is pacing to beat last year’s record for total participation of 37,770.

Participants will represent all 50 states and 17 countries.
