FOX19 - Uber is testing out a new program where customers will be charged if their driver is still waiting two minutes after arriving.
If you're seven minutes late, you will be charged an extra five minutes for the ride. Right now, there's a five minute window, but you might not be charged at all.
Uber is also testing out a cancellation fee if a passenger cancels a pickup two minutes after a request. Those fees can range from $5 to $10 depending on the city.
Uber says its cancellation fee is charged to compensate drivers for their time.
The company said in a statement, "Drivers' time is valuable, and while we expect riders to request a a ride only once they're ready. We know that waiting for a rider at their pickup location can be frustrating."
The pilot program is taking place in Phoenix, Dallas, New Jersey and New York for now.
