Tryout tips for prospective University of Washington Cheerleaders have been dropped amid a social media firestorm.
A poster listing the “do’s” and “don’t” for appearance advise cheerleaders to come with a “bronze, beachy glow,” wear false eyelashes, hair with “volume” and “girl about town” lipstick.
The flyer described the desired look as “physically fit” with an “athletic physique,” but made no mention of requirements beyond physical appearance.
The image spread online and many said it fostered body shaming and objectifying women.
The University of Washington athletic department removed the poster, saying it was “inconsistent with the values of the UW spirit program and department of athletics,” People magazine reports.
