FOX19 - May is Skin Cancer Awareness month, and to kick it off, health groups across the country are raising awareness of the disease with the hashtag #MelanomaMonday.
According to health.gov, skin cancer is the most common type of cancer in the United States. However, the good news is skin cancer doesn't have to be deadly when it's found and treated early. In honor of Melanoma Monday, why not sign up for a free skin cancer screening?
Doctors within the American Academy of Dermatology volunteer their time throughout the year to provide free "SPOTme" cancer screenings. You can find out when there is a screening in your area by clicking on your state here.
