The 13th annual Cincy Cinco is Saturday and Sunday May 7 & 8, the festival at Fountain Square celebrates Latin culture in the Tri-State Mother’s Day weekend.

The event is the largest Latino cultural celebration in the region. It runs noon to 11pm on Saturday and noon to 7pm on Sunday. Over the last few years attendance has been between 10,000 and 12,000.

RECIPE: Alfjors


  • 180 grams of butter
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup cornstarch
  • 6 tbs. powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp. baking power
  • 1 egg
  • 1 tsp Vanilla
  • Dulce de Leche


  • Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F.
  • In a food processor, combine flour, sugar, salt and butter. Wrap the dough ball in plastic wrap and refrigerate for 20 to 30 minutes.
  • Roll the dough 1/8-inch thick. Using a 2-inch round cookie cutter cut out the cookies and transfer to a parchment lined baking sheet.
  • Bake the cookies until they are golden and firm, about 15 to 20 minutes.
  • Remove the cookies from the oven and let cool for 5 minutes.
  • Place the dulce de leche in a small bowl and spread about 1 1/2 teaspoons of the dulce de leche on the flat side of a cookie and sandwich with the flat side of another cookie.
  • Cover with powdered sugar, and serve.
