CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - FC Cincinnati is hoping to continue the momentum in its inaugural season.
Owner Carl H. Lindner sent a letter to the city, asking for 25,000 fans to show up for their next home game May 14th vs. Pittsburgh at Nippert Stadium.
In the letter, he wrote: "It's been electric, exciting, everything we envisioned – and more. We are so grateful for your support as we work to add another jewel in the crown of our Queen City.
"Now, THE rivalry comes to our home. Pittsburgh comes to town on May 14 and we are inviting you, Cincinnati, to help us give them a Queen City welcome," he wrote. "Let's show the world we can fill Nippert Stadium with 25,000 fans in the bright orange of FC Cincinnati!"
FC Cincinnati leads the United Soccer League in attendance this year, averaging more than 15,000 fans per home match.
They're 3-2-1 this season, and travel to Orlando for their next match Wednesday.
