The Ohio State Highway Patrol says a suspect shot after a high-speed chase today has a criminal history in Ohio and Florida. The patrol says a state trooper was also hit when a bullet ricocheted during an altercation along Interstate 71 north of Columbus with Daniel Barnes of Lakewood. Barnes and the trooper were taken to Grant Hospital in Columbus where the suspect is listed as stable. Trooper Tiffany Tuck's injuries aren't life threatening. Troopers say they tried to pull Barnes over when he sped off before running into another car. They say he then got out and came at Trooper Garic Warner with a screwdriver. Troopers say they fired at Barnes after a stun gun failed to stop him. The Patrol says Barnes was wanted for robbery and kidnapping and that he has an extensive criminal history.
