Bicyclists can now call AAA for help

CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Auto club AAA isn't just for stranded motorists anymore. The club is expanding its local roadside assistance to bicyclists who need help as well.

If a cyclists runs into trouble, they can call AAA for a tow and ride to a safe location - whether that be home or a local bicycle shop.

The coverage will be an included benefit in existing AAA memberships.

AAA partnered with four local bicycle shops - Reser Bicycle, Bishop Bikes, Team Cycling and Fitness and Performance Bicycle - to offer members discounts on repairs and products.

The new service was announced on Friday by AAA, Queen City Bike, Tri-State Trails and area cyclist shops.

"This pedal assist is going to help increase the momentum in Cincinnati in our request to become one of the top bicycling communities in the country," said Frank Hensen, President of Queen City Bike.

Recent studies by the League of American Bicyclists show Cincinnati as one of the fastest growing cities for bike commuters in the country, according to AAA.
