Movie-goers head to desert as `Sahara' debuts with $18.5 million
The heat is on at the box office. The Matthew McConaughey action flick "Sahara" took the top spot at the weekend box office, pulling in 18 and a-half million dollars. The film is set in the African desert.
Audiences were cool on "Fever Pitch," the weekend's other new wide release. The Drew Barrymore and Jimmy Fallon baseball romance opened in third place with 13 million. Last weekend's number-one film, "Sin City," slipped to second place with just over 14 million dollars, lifting its ten-day total to 50-point-seven million.
