NEWPORT, KY (FOX19) - Memorial Parkway at the Interstate 471 overpass will shut down for 60 days while crews work to restore the bridge.
The $1.3 million project begins Monday with intermittent lane closures. The full closure of Memorial Parkway starts June 20.
Here is a tentative schedule from the Kentucky Transportation Cabinet:
May 23 - June 6: I-471 northbound ramp (Exit 4) will be closed.
June 6 - June 20: I-471 exit ramp (Exit 4) will close.
June 20 - Aug. 15: Full closure of the Memorial Parkway Bridge.
This could cause major headaches for commutes from Fort Thomas, Bellevue, and Newport as well as downtown traffic that shops at the Pavilion Kroger in Newport.
The detour ramps for I-471 will be Grand Avenue or the Route 8 ramps in Bellevue.
Transportation officials say the closures and time-frame could change depending on the weather.
