Norwood traffic stop nets stolen gun, drugs

NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - A traffic stop led to the recovery of a stolen gun and drugs, Norwood police announced Thursday.

Officer Phil Harvey initiated a traffic stop on I-71 southbound for a marked lanes violation about 11:41 p.m. Wednesday, police wrote on their Facebook page.

The officer noticed the driver throw something from the vehicle as it was pulling over. The item turned out to be a baggie of marijuana.

A vehicle search turned up a loaded Hi-Point handgun in a hidden compartment under the center console.

A query on the serial number of the firearm returned that it was entered as stolen through Batesville police in Indiana.

The weapon was the third in six days Officer Harvey has recovered, according to police.

The suspect, Nathaniel Brock, 37, was arrested on charges of possessing a weapon under disability, improper transport of a firearm in a motor vehicle, receiving stolen property, marked lanes and driving under a child support suspension.

He is held at the Hamilton County jail.
