CINCINNATI (FOX19) - Today is Friday the 13th and while some people may think it's unlucky, I'm here to tell you it's just another day.
Sure, there are some people who embrace Friday the 13th. Most of those people probably wear hockey masks, carry machetes, and walk slowly through the woods.
I'm definitely not one of those.
I personally think Friday the 13th is no different than Thursday the 12th or Saturday the 14th.
First, it's Friday, so how bad can it really be?!
I've worked hard all week and I'm ready for a couple days off.
There's no way some stupid superstition is going to ruin my weekend.
Second, the number 13 isn't so bad. Remember that the next time you order a baker's dozen worth of donuts. When the first 12 are gone, you still have one left! You can't argue with logic like that, people.
Finally and probably most important: I don't believe in luck.
Yes, I've had lucky things happen to me in my life, but I truly believe people make their own luck.
I do my best to put myself in situations which allows good things to happen. I also try to be a good person, so I prefer to think of "luck" as karma. You know, the old "what goes around, comes around" mentality.
So while Friday the 13th might be considered a black mark on the calendar, but it doesn't have to be.
If you're one of those people who find yourself having a rough day, don't blame the calendar; just take a deep breath and think about what you can do to turn it around.
