CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - A new app is on the way to help public transit riders in Cincinnati.
The Southwest Ohio Regional Transit Authority awarded Tuesday a contract to Passport, a mobile payment company that also built the City of Cincinnati parking app.
Passport will now develop an app that allows riders to plan, track and pay for fares on both Metro buses and the Cincinnati Streetcar.
After a rider buys a ticket, they'll be able to simply show their mobile device for validation once they get on to ride.
SORTA officials say they hope to have the app up and running by August.
