ERLANGER, KY (FOX19) -
The Tompkinsville Police department, in South West Kentucky received a nice gift last week from Erlanger Police. Body cameras.
Erlanger was able to buy law enforcement specific cameras that will save manpower according to public information officer Sergeant Jon Sterling.
“The old cameras had to be downloaded for each officer by a clerk every day for each officer,” Sterling said. “The new camera is downloaded by the officer at the end of his/her shift and takes just a few minutes,” he continued.
The police there decided to donate the older model cameras called “Muvi’s” after one of their officers talked with administrators in Tompkinsville.
Erlanger has had body cam’s since 2009 and Sterling said he’s never submitted a complaint on an officer since video recording began.
EPD is the first in the region to begin using body cameras.
