The app-based car service, Uber, will soon test out a self-driving car on the streets of Pittsburgh.
The hybrid Ford Fusion will be seen driving around the city over the next few weeks. The car has been equipped with radar, laser sensors and high-resolution cameras to map out the road.
This test won’t be conducted completely driverless as there will be someone sitting behind the wheel to monitor its ability.
In October, Uber CEO Travis Kalanick said, “Are we going to be a part of the future, or are we going to resist the future like the taxi industry before us?”
Uber, which operates in 450 cities world-wide, also says self-driving cars would decrease congestion.
