Swimming pools are gross.

That's the message from the Centers of Disease Control and Prevention, but health officials aren't telling you to avoid jumping in the water. Just do some research first,

The newest C-D-C report found that nearly 80-percent of water venues including public pools, hot tubs and water playgrounds inspected in 2013, had at least one safety or hygiene violation.

One in eight sites was closed immediately due to serious violations.

The most common violations include improper water pH balance, safety equipment and disinfectant concentration.

The CDC says you can still dive into the water this summer, just check the pool's latest inspection report first.
