14-year-old ejected from truck in I-275 crash, in critical condition

WHITEWATER TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - A 14-year-old girl was taken to the hospital after she was ejected from a truck during a crash on Interstate 275 Saturday morning.

Emergency crews responded to I-275 near Kilby Rd. around 10:36 a.m. Saturday. Police say the collision involved a pickup truck and a FedEx truck.

Thomas Tritz, 57, was driving a 2008 GMC Sierra in the left lane of I-275 when Keith Graham, 34, driving a FedEx truck attempted to switch lanes from left to the left, but did not see Tritz's truck next to his cab, according to authorities.

As Graham moved over to the left, his vehicle pinched the pickup truck between the guardrail and his semi. Tritz was unable to control his vehicle after contact was made and began to rotate across and off of the highway. The truck then slid off the right side of the roadway. As it slid into the wet grass, the tires dug into the mud causing it to roll over twice.

That is when the girl was ejected from the vehicle, investigators said.

Police say the girl was transported to Children's Hospital. She's currently in critical, but stable condition.

Neither drugs or alcohol are believed to have played any role in the crash.

The crash remains under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff's traffic safety unit.
