FRANKLIN CO., OH (FOX19) -

A Batesville, IN man has died after a single-vehicle crash in Franklin County on Saturday.

Emergency crews responded to St. Mary's Rd. near Morris Rd. around 9:15 p.m. for reports of a single-vehicle crash.

An initial investigation shows that a 1983 Ford Mustang driven by Glen Smith, 50, of Batesville, was traveling eastbound on St. Mary's Rd. when the vehicle drove off the road.

Indiana State Police said the Mustang rolled after entering the field, ejecting Smith and a passenger, Travis Hirt, 26, of Batesville.

Smith was pronounced dead at the scene.

Hirt was transported to Margaret Mary Hospital. His injuries appear to be non-life threatening, according to ISP.

Investigators said neither Smith or Hirt were wearing a seatbelt. Speed and alcohol may be contributing factors in the crash, ISP said.

The investigation is ongoing.
