NORWOOD, OH (FOX19) - The Norwood Police Department released body camera footage on social media Tuesday showing officers chasing a suspect with a gun last year.
But why did they release the footage to the general public?
Norwood police said they will be begin sharing officers' footage from body cam and cruiser cam to "give you a chance to see the outstanding job they do and also some of the dangers they face everyday."
Lt. Ronald Murphy says the man in the video police were chasing was Kenny Townsend. He ended up pleading guilty to having weapons under disability.
The chase captured on body cam happened in June of 2015 in the 4500 block of Reading Road.
Norwood police say there are plans to make more of these type of videos available to the public via their Facebook page.
They are also releasing the footage in an effort for the department to be transparent.
Lt. Murphy said he has about 10 more videos he plans to show to the police chief.
No word on when the videos will be released.
