CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) -

Thousands of volunteers from across the country will be together on Saturday, June 18, 2016, to help clean-up the Ohio River and its tributaries

Great Parks is hosting cleanup locations at two riverfront parks, Fernbank Park (east side) and Woodland Mound (west side), from 9 a.m. to noon. Trash bags will be provided and volunteers will receive a free T-shirt. To ensure enough supplies, registration is required.

Organized by regional environmental protection and natural resource agencies, the event brings more than 20,000 volunteers together to collect trash and debris from the banks of the entire Ohio River, from its origin in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, to its end in Cairo, Illinois.

The cleanup covers nearly 3,000 miles of shoreline, including those of the river’s many tributaries.

  • Fernbank Park is located at 50 Thornton Avenue, Cincinnati, OH 45233.
  • Woodland Mound is located at 8386 Steamboat Drive, Cincinnati, OH 45255.
