CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Greater Cincinnati Film Commission announced Tuesday a movie will shoot in Cincinnati this summer.
"Girl from the Hood," a partnership with Sony and Thinkfactory, will produce a project for Lifetime about R&B artist Michel'le.
The film will capture her journey from the streets of Compton, including her experience with Death Row Records and her relationships with founders Dr. Dre and Suge Knight, described as "one of fame, abuse and ultimately, survival and triumph."
Production offices opened last week in Cincinnati and filming will begin in late June.
"We are ecstatic to host such an extraordinary project," said Kristen Schlotman, executive director of the Greater Cincinnati Film Commission, in a prepared statement.
"This is an exciting project for Cincinnati and we look forward to ensuring their success and enjoyment of their time in Cincinnati."
"Girl From the Hood" will create hundreds of jobs and have a significant economic impact on the local economy, she added.
