CINCINNATI, OH (FOX19) - The Society of St. Vincent de Paul is asking for donations as the group kicks off its annual fan and air conditioner drive.

On Thursday, the charity distributed its first round of fans to clients.

The first 100 families in line received a fan.

Through September 1, the charity is collecting new fans, window air conditioners, and monetary donations to help with the drive.

Organizers hope to collect 400 air conditioners and 700 fans to distribute to families in Greater Cincinnati who currently lack such items.

"During visits to the homes of families in need, our volunteers often find sick and elderly neighbors living in dangerously hot apartments with no source of relief from the summer heat," said Mike Dunn, executive director. "Many of clients in particular have respiratory issues."

Donate a fan by visiting or by calling 513-421-HOPE (4673).
