Judge rules in favor of use of Ephedra
A once-popular weight loss supplement has moved a step closer to making a comeback. A federal judge has struck down the FDA's ban on ephedra. The judge ruled in favor of a Utah company that challenged the ban. The company said ephedra had been "safely consumed" for hundreds of years. Ephedra was pulled from the market last April, after being linked to more than 150 deaths, including the death of Baltimore Orioles prospect Steve Bechler.
Supplements that include ephedra had been widely used for weight loss and bodybuilding.
