DEERFIELD TOWNSHIP, OH (FOX19) - Deerfield Township fire crews were called to an out-of-the-ordinary mission Saturday.
A 4-day-old fawn was trapped after falling through the gate of a neighborhood storm drain.
Families gathered around along the curb to watch as the fire and rescue team worked to save the small animal.
The rescue involved lifting the grate so crew members could lure the fawn to one side, where two men used a plastic rake to life the baby deer up to street level.
The deer ran around in excitement in the front yard of a home on Country Hill Court.
Officials then took the deer to the backyard, where its mother was last seen, in hopes that the two could reunite.
