WEST END, OH (FOX19) -

A man who refused to hand his wallet over to a gunman was shot in an early morning street robbery Monday, Cincinnati police officials said.

The victim, 30, said a man demanded his wallet at Central and Freeman avenues about 2:12 a.m., said Lt. Tim Brown, the night chief.

The man told police wouldn't give up his wallet, so the gunman fired, striking him in the left side, Brown said.

The victim was taken to University of Cincinnati Medical Center. He is expected to recover, according to Brown.

No arrests were made.
