A high school in New York is breaking one of its traditions and will feature gender-neutral caps and gowns for the school's graduation.
A spokeswoman for the Port Washing school district, located in Long Island, said all students graduating from Paul D. Schreiber High School will wear blue gowns and white stoles, according to the Associated Press.
The new idea was requested by a student at the school.
The ceremony is scheduled for June 23.
Valedictorian Asena Ulug hopes it becomes a trend at other schools.
