DAYTON, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say police tried to make a traffic stop and a male passenger in the vehicle fled and was shot and injured by an officer in southwestern Ohio. Kettering police started the traffic stop Thursday night, but the shooting occurred in nearby Dayton. Dayton Assistant Police Chief Mark Ecton said there was an altercation after the passenger fled and a Kettering officer fired at the suspect, wounding him. The suspect's condition wasn't immediately known.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - The University of Hawaii says it has found no record of complaints against a now-dead doctor accused of sexual misconduct at Ohio State, but the school is still looking into his time there. A University of Hawaii spokesman says little has been found related to Dr. Richard Strauss beyond employment records saying he was an associate professor for two years starting in 1972. The spokesman says officials are still checking for any investigations or complaints against Strauss.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Authorities have finally identified an Ohio man who killed himself in 2002 while using the name of an 8-year-old boy who died in a car accident in 1945. U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott at a news conference Thursday in Cleveland said DNA testing and genealogy have determined that Joseph Newton Chandler III was actually Robert Ivan Nichols.

CLEVELAND (AP) - Authorities say a 9-year-old girl was shot and killed in Cleveland while sitting in a car as her mother went inside a building to pick up her son. The girl has been identified as Saniyah Nicholson, of Maple Heights. A Cleveland city councilman says police have told him the girl was shot while a group in a car exchanged gunfire with a group on foot.
