COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say a deputy fatally shot a 16-year-old boy in an Ohio courtroom when a fight that broke out. Sheriff's Office Investigations Chief Rick Minerd says a fight broke out between a deputy in the courtroom and members of Haynes' family as the Wednesday hearing concluded.

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Former U.S. Rep. Dennis Kucinich is running for Ohio governor, and he says he would muster state resources to fight poverty and violence, boost arts and education and expand economic opportunity. The 71-year-old said Wednesday he'll fight for "We the People." His entry creates a five-way Democratic primary for the chance to succeed Republican Gov. John Kasich, who's term-limited.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Attorneys for a Mexican mother of U.S.-born children who was deported last year claiming threats by a drug cartel say they're "thrilled" with a court's order that U.S. immigration authorities reconsider the case. The attorneys say Wednesday's ruling by the Cincinnati-based 6th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals is an important step toward returning Maribel Trujillo Diaz to the United States. The panel ruled immigration officials shouldn't have rejected Diaz' motion to reopen removal proceedings.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Friends of former Democratic Ohio congressman and Cincinnati Mayor Thomas Luken spoke of his commitment to civil rights and other causes at a memorial Mass for him on Wednesday. The Mass was held in downtown Cincinnati for Luken, who died last week at age 92. Luken mentored many young politicians, including former Cincinnati mayor and current TV talk show host Jerry Springer, who was among those who praised Luken on Wednesday for his commitment to basic human rights.
