COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - President Donald Trump and Ohio Gov. John Kasich are trading jabs on Twitter days after a special congressional election the two Republicans tried to influence too close to call. Trump skewered Kasich on Monday as a "very unpopular" governor who hurt GOP state Sen. Troy Balderson's Aug. 7 race against Democrat Danny O'Connor by "tamping down enthusiasm for an otherwise great candidate."

MASON, Ohio (AP) - Democrats are looking to what once was considered longshot territory for gains in the midterms. In southwest Ohio, Democratic House candidate Aftab Pureval is attracting national attention as he tries to unseat veteran Republican Rep. Steve Chabot, part of the Cincinnati-area political landscape for three decades. Their matchup is among dozens playing out nationally in House districts that have been afterthoughts in recent elections.

CINCINNATI (AP) - Vice President Mike Pence will visit Ohio to promote the Trump administration's tax cuts and attend campaign events for Republican candidates. Pence will speak Tuesday afternoon at a downtown Cincinnati hotel about President Donald Trump's tax reforms and ways the administration says those cuts will benefit Ohio residents and businesses. The event is sponsored by America First Policies, an organization that supports Trump's policies.

SOUTH EUCLID, Ohio (AP) - Authorities say two men found dead after a standoff near Cleveland were the sons of a doctor who died from multiple gunshots at his home. Police found the bodies of 29-year-old Mark Warn and his 31-year-old brother Michael Warn inside their home Saturday.
