FRANKFORT, Ky. (AP) - In a state struggling with a surging female incarceration rate, it is inevitable that pregnant women end up in Kentucky's jails. Looking for an alternative to locking up expectant mothers, some lawmakers are pushing a bill that would set conditions to transfer some pregnant inmates into rehabilitation centers.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - A Louisville financial adviser has been charged with investment adviser fraud, money laundering, aggravated identity theft and wire fraud. The U.S. attorney's office in Louisville says the indictments are part of a large sweep by law enforcement focusing on elder fraud. The indictment against Derek Payne Burcham Thursday alleges the financial adviser fraudulently obtained more than $800,000 by misappropriating money from investors.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. (AP) - Officials say 30 members of the Kentucky Air National Guard are deploying to the Persian Gulf to help fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria. Col. David Mounkes says in a statement that the Airmen of the 123rd Airlift Wing will leave Friday and are expected to remain overseas for about four months.

GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) - Authorities say a fight involving up to seven students at a Kentucky high school left at least two school personnel and one police officer injured. Georgetown police said in a Facebook post that a fight broke out Thursday morning at Scott County High School, during which a teacher, administrator and officer were assaulted.
